Severance Agreements

The separation of employment, whether at the insistence of the employer or the employee, can be fraught with emotion and stress. For employers, entering into a severance agreement can ease the uncertainty and avoid the possibility of future litigation arising out the employment relationship. For employees, a severance agreement can allow an employee a sum of money to rely upon while searching for another job and can address uncertainty surrounding the employment relationship (for example, communications to third parties regarding the employee). Employers and employees should always consult an employment attorney for purposes of reviewing and/or drafting severance agreements to make sure the agreement serves the particular circumstance of each situation. At our firm, we have the experience and background to brainstorm your particular situation to reach the appropriate solution.
